A Bit About Me
Originally from Raleigh, NC, I spent three decades as a math and technology teacher—including 18 wonderful years at my final school. Teaching has always been my passion, and today, I bring that same resourcefulness, committment, and love of teaching to help people navigate the move to Porto.
My husband, Ben, grew up in Sanford, NC, a short drive from Raleigh, NC. After receiving his Masters in math, Ben decided to join the Peace Corp. He was stationed in West Aftrica for a little over 2 years, where he taught math in Benin. Ben was a data engineer in Cary, NC for over 22 years. Ben now enjoys cooking and comedy (he is always joking).
In 2021, my husband and I took a leap of faith. We sold almost everything we owned and moved to Porto, arriving with just a handful of suitcases and our two dogs. Even though we had never visited the city before, we haven't regretted it for a single moment. Porto captured our hearts completely with its magical charm and incredibly kind, generous people.
For my first few years here, I continued tutoring high school math for families back in North Carolina. While that work was deeply rewarding, working late hours across time zones prompted me to pivot my career.
In the summer of 2025 I began working at REMAX Universal River in Porto. The woman that is the director is still my dear friend. She is from Porto with15 years of experience in real estate. After struggling to work in Portuguese, I switched to an American company where I also learned a great deal.
During my time working in real estate, I intentionally built a trusted network of professionals to ensure my clients are fully supported. When you work with me, you also gain access to a reliable team of experts, including a US-certified home inspector, dependable Portuguese contractors, immigration lawyers, independent Portuguese real estate attorneys, mortgage brokers, and trusted local property service providers.
Utilizing the team of experts, my experience in real estate, and the knowledge of livng in Porto since June of 2021, my husband and I decided we would like to work together to assist others moving and settling here. We are outgoing and enjoy meeting new people, as well as being helpful.
We adopted a Portuguese Pequeno Podengo after our 2 dogs from the US passed. Ziggy is an older dog that is going blind. He is very sweet and we are happy he is a part of our family.
